VIGEZO VYA KUJIUNGA DIPLOMA, DEGREE YA PHARMACY

In this page we will takes you through the details on the currents admission requirements for prospective students to pursue Pharmacy in Tanzania both Diploma and Degree level.

It is strongly encouraged to read and understand the entry qualification requirements or admission requirements that are stipulated by NACTVET and TCU for diploma and degree program respectively from year to year.

Tanzania Pharmacy Council works on this matter and make sure that all pharmaceutical students after completion of their program have all registration requirements fulfilled by the Applicant.

In addition to this matter, we are going to explain the procedures for abroad pharmacy studies to be fulfilled by Tanzania candidates basically for degree students.

 Vigezo vya Kujiunga na kozi ya pharmacy – DIPLOMA

According to the NACTVET Admission Guide Book 2024/2025, below are requirement to study diploma in Pharmacy in Tanzania;

  • Holders of Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) with At Least four (4) Passes in non-religious Subjects including Chemistry and Biology.
  • A Pass in Basic Mathematics and English Language Is An Added Advantage

NOTE:

  • This year 2025/2026 it is confirmed that the passes should be at least five (5) non-religious Subjects
  • Physics subject is potential going to be included this year in the upcoming NACTVET Guide Book that is expected to be published May 2025, on our side we currently monitoring the situation and the current discussion between the Pharmacy Council, NACTVET and other stakeholders so when will come to a consensus we publish it here.

Vigezo vya Kujiunga na kozi ya pharmacy – BACHELOR DEGREE

There two possible categories of applicants, Direct entrants as well as Equivalent qualifications to study a bachelor of pharmacy 2025.

Vigezo vya Kujiunga na degree ya pharmacy: Direct Entry (Form Six Applicants)

  • Three (3) principal passes in Physics, Chemistry and Biology with a minimum of 6 points in Form Six Results 
  • An applicant must have at least a “D” grade in Chemistry, Biology and Physics

Vigezo vya Kujiunga na degree ya pharmacy: Equivalent Entry Qualification (Diploma/ In-service Applicants)

  • All equivalent applicants must have an appropriate Diploma or Advanced Diploma with an average of ‘’B’’ or a minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • In addition, an applicant must have a minimum of ‘’D’’ grade in the following subjects: Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Physics and English at O-Level.

NOTE: For students/ Applicant who wishes to purse a bachelor of Pharmacy Abroad, He/she MUST obtain No Objection Certificate (NOC).

After obtaining professional advice from Tanzania Pharmacy Council, the applicant should get the NOC from TCU that will allow him/her to obtain higher education abroad.

More importantly; the study duration for studying a  bachelor of pharmacy should not be less than four years as stipulated in the Regulation 4(1) of the Pharmacy (Education and Training) Regulations of the Pharmacy Council of 2005, GN 333 of 2005
